About Us / Mō Mātou

Our Story / Tō mātou kōrero

Lake Whakamarino Lodge was established to create opportunity, connection, and long-term value for the community of Tuai. We're a locally owned and operated lodge with a focus on hospitality, sustainability, and building up our people.

We don’t just offer accommodation - we’re building skills, providing jobs, and giving back through everything from school lunches to marae upkeep.

Our Team / Ngā kaimahi

Run by locals. Powered by kaupapa.

Our lodge is managed by a hands-on team of locals who live and breathe the values behind this place. Everyone plays a role - not just in housekeeping or maintenance, but in shaping the mana and mauri of the lodge every day.

This crew doesn’t just look after the lodge - they also take care of grounds around the village, transport waste, and support our marae and kura.

From Cheyne’s leadership and Kaylyn’s admin to Lesley and Amoe in housekeeping, Maxine in the kitchen, Rui on maintenance, and Johnny, Nevada and John looking after the wider village.
